  • Take attendance and have each student say his/her favorite activity from the summer break.
  • No student devices today
  • Revisit Advisory Purpose
    • Review poster "What is LHS Advisory?"
    • Review your role as their advisor
  • #ImpactMaker Lesson
    • Show video below
    • Pass out #ImpactMaker paper
    • Students will brainstorm actions they will take to make a positive impact while at LHS
    • Ideas:
      • You do not have to include your name on the paper, but each student will complete their impact statement to turn in. The IMPACT statements will be reviewed for approval and then put on display in our building
      • Like art? draw your name or the work IMPACT in block letters and inside the letters include words that describe how you will make an impact
      • Not an artist? randomly brainstorm or word list how you will make an impact
      • Advisors turn in statements in marked "IMPACTMAKER" box near faculty mailboxes

        • Project this "spin the wheel" CLICK HERE
        • Tell students to get out cell phones if they have them!
        • Divide students into 2 equal lines, parallel to and facing one another so that each student is paired with one another
        • Spin the wheel, for 90 seconds students will discuss with their partner the topic the wheel lands on (BOTH students get to talk/share with one another for only 90 seconds total)
        • After 90 seconds, have students in 1 line rotate to the right one person while the other line remains still
        • Spin the wheel for a new topic (repeat this process until students end up with their original partner)
        • Now Play!

    This is your Advisory space for your academic career at Liberty High School.  Your advisory teacher is different than a classroom teacher in that there is no grade for this class. The advisory teacher will support you in a variety of ways from academic support to building relationships as well as connecting you to community involvement and events.
